Chuck Tiffany is the week's Top Prospect Alert.
Tiffany, a 20 year old in the Dodgers organization, opened his 2005 campaign with five shutout innings, allowing one hit while striking out 11 St. Lucie Mets batters.
He picked up the win over Mets 2004 first round pick Philip Humber.
Success is nothing new for the lefty phenom who was selected 62nd overall by the Dodgers in 2003.
Last season at Short-A Columbus, Tiffany posted a 5-2 record with a 3.90 ERA while striking out 141 batters in 99.2 innings pitched.
Tiffany's first appearance in Columbus resulted in a perfect game. His second win came as part of a combined no hitter.
Tiffany is doing his best to become the prize horse in a stable of strong Dodger pitching prospects that includes the likes of Chad Billingsley, Jonathan Broxton, Edwin Jackson, and Greg Miller.
It will be interesting to follow Tiffany as he makes the jump to Double-A, which should happen towards the middle of the 2005 season.
